VYPE Magazine Announces the Shelter Insurance Mr. & Miss Basketball Oklahoma Award Winners

 

Tulsa, OK (April 17th, 2020) – The VYPE Magazine and Shelter Insurance are proud to announce the 2020 Mr. and Miss Basketball Oklahoma Award winners are Bryce Thompson from Booker T. Washington High School and Aaliyah Moore from Moore High School.

The Shelter Insurance Mr. and Miss Basketball award recognizes the outstanding efforts Thompson and Moore gave this season as they both led their teams to a state championship. Thompson and Moore join a distinguished list of players named to the top honor in the state of Oklahoma.

During the 2019-20 season, Thompson averaged 24.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. Thompson helped the Hornets to a record of 18-5, 13-1 in district play. Thompson has signed with the University of Kansas.

“It’s a blessing and an honor to be named Mr. Basketball Oklahoma. Thankful for the award, we have so many good players in this state so to be Mr. Basketball is a privilege. Credit to my coaches and teammates because they played a major role in my success,” said Thompson.

This season Moore was instrumental in helping the Lady Lions to an 18-6 overall record with a 10-3 record in district play. Moore averaged 21.9 points, 10.9 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, 2.0 steals and 2.0 assists per game. Moore is only a junior and will return to Moore High School to finish out her high school career.

“I am grateful and beyond blessed. Thank you to everyone who has helped me get to where I am today,” said Moore.
