Westmoore Jaguars

BOYS

Coach: Todd Millwee

18-19 Record: 2-12

The Westmoore Jaguars enter the new basketball season with new faces on the bench and on the court. Head coach Todd Millwee takes the reigns of a program that went 2-12 last season but is optimistic about how this season will go. “The Jags will be a team with several different weapons this year,” he said. “They play extremely hard and play together.” Reece Fuller (6-2, Sr.) returns to play forward this season. Playing at guard is the dynamic Quinten Harrison (6-1, Sr.). Looking to make a bigger impact this season is Matthew Mussett (6-2, Sr.). Bracey Young (6-3, Sr.), Chris Cornish (5-11, Sr.), and David Owusu (6-1, Jr.) all look to make a big contribution to the team this season. Other Jaguars to keep an eye on this season are Tyshon Covington (6-1, Jr.), Zane Miller (5-10, Jr.), Zion Faboro (6-7, So.), Grant Gappa (5-8, So.), and Jabari Jordan (5-8, So.). Joining Millwee on the bench is a new host of assistants including Beau Harrington and Sherief Stafford, who come from Lawton Eisenhower. Also, Jon Ellis and Weslie Moore are new to the team as well.

GIRLS

Coach: Matt Thornton

18-19 Record: 12-11

The Lady Jags of Westmoore look to continue to improve after a 12-11 record a year ago. Second year head coach, Matt Thornton, likes the makeup of his team and what they offer. “We are excited about this group,” he said. “We have a great mix of experience and youth. We will surprise some people this season.” Shelby Kraus (Sr.) returns this season after averaging ten points per game last season, while also pulling down 7.5 rebounds per game. Joining her is Madison Hays (Sr.), who contributed six points per game but looks to increase her output this year. Tahtyaha Jackson (Sr.) and Brittany Romines (Jr.) combined to average 5.5 points last season. They will look to make a bigger impact on the floor. Coming back looking to be a strong player on both sides of the floor is Lauren Wilson (Jr.). Jaiden Smith (So.) and Makenna Penrod (So.) look to be more dominant players this season for the Lady Jags. Other players on the team to watch are Shelby Tate (Jr.), Ryan Franklin (So.), Tiffany McCain (So.), and Albony Bryles (Fr.).
