Norman’s Grace Hathaway – Academic Athlete Presented by Republic Bank & Trust
- Updated: November 11, 2019
By Ember McElrath
Athlete is just one title you can call Norman High senior Grace Hathaway. She is on the Pom squad as well as involved in class officers, National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Link Crew, and involved in her local church youth group – all while maintaining a perfect 4.0 grade point average.
Grace has been involved with pom since her freshman year. Being a lifelong lover of dance and performing, it only seems natural that Grace would become involved with pom.
“I have always loved to dance and perform. Pom is a perfect mix of the two,” she said.
Balancing a busy school life with sports and personal life can be a challenge, but Grace keeps it all flowing by being organized, so she never misses a beat.
“I am a big planner, so I always make sure that I set aside time for both school and pom,” said Grace.
This season Grace is looking forward to competing at state.
“My team is so talented. I can’t wait for the opportunity to showcase our hard work,” Grace said.
She loves pom for many reasons, but her favorite part of it is the atmosphere of the games.
“I love the environment of the games, Performing at halftime and dancing with the band is my favorite,” said Grace.
Grace would love to continue pom in college, she is undecided on where, but has an interest in medicine.
