Norman North’s Grace Teuscher – Academic Athlete Presented by Republic Bank & Trust
- Updated: November 11, 2019

The balance of being a student athlete can be difficult at times. Making sure you are giving the adequate amount of time to your studies, while also preparing yourself for game day. Grace Teuscher says that while there may be some negatives associated with it, being a student athlete is making her a better person.
“It is difficult to balance school and sports,” she said. “But I love the way it keeps me busy. It also keeps me out of trouble and focused on what matters. It does get hard having to sometimes sacrifice a social life or time for myself, but one day it will pay off.”
Teuscher is a junior at Norman North High School. She plays pitcher and utility for the Lady Timberwolves softball team.
Grace’s parents, David and Kim Teuscher, have served as great role models for her life.
“They have taught me that having a good character is one of the most important things in life,” she said. “Their leadership status in the community has held me to a lot of standards and given me two amazing role models. Living in a pretty strict household, they’ve taught me right from wrong and given me life lessons that I will carry forever.”
There have been some big moments in during her time playing softball, but Grace says that her favorite moment did not happen during a game.
“I would have to say the highlight of my softball career was winning two Academic State Championships with my team.”
Norman North language arts teacher, Kimberly Billingsley, is at the top of Teuscher’s list of favorite teachers.
“She taught me that everything is going to be okay and not to push yourself too far,” she stated. “She also helped me to never doubt myself and be confident in what I do.”
Away from athletics, Grace is also a part of the National Honor Society, Teen Volunteer, the Norman North Student Athlete Advisory Council, Norman Youth City Council, and Spud Royalty Committee. Along with school softball, she also plays on Tulsa Elite, a travel softball team.
