Norman’s Brie Lee – Girls Golf Poll Winner Presented by O’Connell’s Irish Pub & Grille

Norman High School’s Brie Lee has played golf for three years. She originally dedicated her time to a different sport but once she gave golf a try, that was it.

“My mom was the one who told me I should try golf, and I ended up liking it so much to that I stopped playing softball to focus on golf,” she said. “The thing I like most about competing for my high school is just the opportunity to play golf everyday.”

Lee said that she would describe this season as a learning year.

“I didn’t get the scores I was aiming to get but it was still great to be on the course, gain more experience, and spend time with my teammates,” she said.

It is her teammates that push Lee on to give her best effort on the course.

“In golf what motivates me to do my best would be my teammates because at the end of tournaments, your scores are added up for one total team score so I always try to do my best, not for myself, but so that I don’t hold my teammates back,” she said.

Lee says that the game of golf has taught her to be patient and to always keep a positive attitude. She has learned some of her work ethic from her brother.

“I look up to my brother as a role model because he’s a very hard working, intelligent, and thoughtful person,” she said. “He’s funny and someone that everyone likes to be around. I also know that he will always be there for me if I ever need him. I just have a lot of respect for him.”

Outside of golf, Lee is also involved with the Norman High student congress (STUCO). After high school she plans to attend college, major in law, and eventually become a prosecutor.
