Noble’s Collin Mahaffey – Boys Golf Poll Winner Presented by O’Connell’s Irish Pub & Grille
- Updated: June 3, 2019
Noble Bears golfer Collin Mahaffey was introduced to his sport like many athletes are – through family members. He has played golf for almost four years, and in that time he has learned some valuable lessons from the sport.
“The game of golf has taught me the importance of a strong, confident mentality,” he said. “Also, having trust in my teammates. If I mess up on a hole, I know one of them made it up for so I just have to forget about it and do better on the next.”
The team spirit and personal relationship building through golf is something that Mahaffey enjoys most about competing for his high school. He also stays motivated on the course by he and his teammates pushing each other to be their best.
“I like playing with my friends, challenging myself, and meeting new people at every tournament,” he said. “[My friends and teammates] are always challenging each other and pushing each other to be the best we can be.”
Mahaffey and his teammates have already committed to putting in lots of work on the green in order to achieve success next season.
“This year’s season wasn’t the best, we can all improve,” he said. “So we’re going to work all summer to be better next year!”
Aside from golf, Mahaffey is involved in student council and honor society at Noble High School. After he graduates he plans to attend college and pursue a career in the medical field.
