Westmoore’s Tyler Britt – Moore-Norman Area Boys Soccer Player of the Month – Presented by O’Connell’s Irish Pub & Grille

Playing sports is just one aspect of being an athlete. Another is getting to know people and making friends. Tyler Britt enjoys both parts of the game.

“I really enjoy the game of soccer,” he said. “It gives you a bunch of friends and helps with socializing. I have met a bunch of great people because of soccer.”

A senior at Westmoore High School, Britt is in his third season of playing soccer competitively after trying it out one year and falling in love with the sport.

“I thought it would be fun to try out my freshman year,” he said. “I figured why not try out because I really love the game.”

Tyler has the ability to play anywhere on the backline for the Jaguars. He says while this season has not gone as planned for his team, it has been a good challenge. However, the biggest moment in his soccer career is not something that happened on the field.

“My highlight moment is receiving a scholarship to play the sport I love,” he said. “I will be signing with Hesston College in Kansas to continue my soccer career. While I am there, I plan to major in sports management and become a coach, possibly at the collegiate level.”

The key to being successful in sports requires two things, according to Tyler.

“Perseverance and a bunch of persistence,” he said. “You have to put in the hard work and you cannot give up when things don’t go the way you want or planned.”

There are two major influences in Tyler’s life who have helped him along the way, in and out of soccer.

“My dad and my brother have really made an impact on me,” Britt said. “They taught me to never give up on things. They are the reasons I decided to get into soccer.”

Winning the Soccer Player of the Month poll is a proud accomplishment for Tyler and he is appreciative of the support he receives from the Westmoore community.

“It means a lot to me,” he said. “I honestly never thought I would even be a contender for it. I didn’t realize I would have as much support as I did and it truly means a lot to have that many people behind me.”
