Norman’s Tyler Hankins: Driven Athlete of the Month – Presented by Landers Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM of Norman
- Updated: April 17, 2019
By Corey Heim
Tyler Hankins plays baseball for Norman High School and has proven himself to be a dedicated player and leader for the team.
Hankins currently plays as a pitcher and first baseman for the Norman Tigers. He has been playing the sport since he was four years old and it is the only sport that he has ever been passionate about and loved.
Hankins is extremely driven on the baseball field, as he loves the competitiveness of playing against the other top teams in the district.
“The thing I enjoy most about competing is the pressure competition puts on you,” Hankins said. “You shoot to be the very best you can be on the field.”
Hankins also enjoys being a strong leader to his teammates, something he learned from his coach Jeff Brewer.
“Jeff is a very great guy on and off the field who will have your back like a teammate would whenever you need it,” Hankins said.
Hankins is also driven off the baseball field, as he works hard to excel in his academics. He has instilled strong discipline to focus not only on baseball, but his schoolwork as well.
He is planning on attending Trinidad State Junior College in Trinidad, Colorado, where he will be competing on a baseball scholarship and majoring in criminal justice.
