Noble's Jacob Wilcox: Academic Athlete of the Month – Presented by Republic Bank & Trust
- Updated: February 13, 2019
The Noble Bears basketball team features some talented players this season, including Jacob Wilcox. Wilcox and the Bears have grabbed some big wins this season over teams such as Western Heights, Bridge Creek, OKC Storm and Classen SAS. Wilcox said the support he and his teammates show one another has been great this season.
“The support from my team is definitely the best thing, they will always have my back no matter what is happening on and off the court,” said Wilcox. “I am mostly satisfied with our season so far, as we have improved greatly from this previous year’s season.”
Wilcox started playing basketball at a young age and has kept his focus on the sport ever since.
“I started playing basketball in second grade and I do not play any other sports,” said Wilcox.
Like many of his teammates, grades are the top priority. Wilcox is a member of DECA at Noble High School and has plans to continue his education after he graduates.
“Academics are very important to me, they can show your dedication to more things than just the classroom,” said Wilcox. “I plan to go to rose state college to study and do basic classes before transferring to a four-year college.”
Wilcox has a strong support system at home, which has allowed him to grow as a student and an athlete.
“My biggest influence on and off the court is 100 percent my parents. They support me and help me with every decision I make. They believe in me and would support me no matter what path I decided to take,” said Wilcox.
