Shelter Insurance Miss Softball Oklahoma 2018: Kenzie Donihoo – Mustang High School
- Updated: January 10, 2019
VYPE and Shelter Insurance are proud to name Mustang’s Kenzie Donihoo the 2018 Miss Softball Oklahoma. Donihoo is a powerful player known for her competitive nature and game-changing ability. Upon graduation in the spring Donihoo will transition from a Bronco to a Sooner, as she has signed with the University of Oklahoma to continue her softball career. She is excited to rise to the new challenges.
“[I am] looking forward to being part of such a dynamic team,” she said. “I get really excited to know that I will be working harder than ever before. I can’t wait to become a student of the game and learn from the best coaching staff around.”
Of course she will miss her teammates and coaches at Mustang, and the community of fans that made playing the game even more fun.
“I’ve enjoyed all the support I have been given from the Mustang community,” she said. “I’ve enjoyed playing with some of the most talented teammates. The coaches here have allowed me to grow as a player and always encouraged me to be a great leader. I will always be proud to be a Mustang Bronco.”
During her time at Mustang, Kenzie was a four-year starter at shortstop, batting leadoff for the Lady Broncos. Her stats for the 2018 season include a .380 batting average, 38 hits, 39 runs, 17 RBIs, 11 stolen bases, and two home runs. This performance during her senior season brought her career stats to a batting average of .426, 192 hits, 189 runs scored, 14 home runs, and 60 doubles. Over the years Donihoo also led the Lady Broncos to three consecutive regional championships and the 2017 6A State Championship.
Mustang head coach Jamie Roberts knows that Donihoo will continue to succeed.
“Kenzie is one of the toughest kids I have ever coached,” said Roberts. “She is a defensive specialist and brings so much spark to the game. She is a tremendous threat at the plate and her aggressiveness on the base puts extreme pressure on opposing teams. Looking forward to watching her excel at the next level, I know she will do great things.”
Congratulations to Kenzie Donihoo of Mustang High School – Miss Softball Oklahoma 2018.
