Southmoore's Erin Bean – Academic Athlete of the Month Presented by Republic Bank & Trust
- Updated: December 21, 2018
Southmoore High School standout Erin Bean has made academics a priority a student-athlete.
“Academics are extremely important to me. My parents have always told me to treat school like your job. Do your best, be responsible, and the results will get you far in life,” said Bean.
Bean is involved in several activities and clubs at schools including Student Council and PTSA.
“I enjoy getting to help plan and carry out activities for the school and help the student body have pride in their school and show school spirit,” said Bean. “My favorite class is probably any math class that has to do with Algebra. I’m a numbers person and I like to follow steps to solve equations and find answers.”
Bean carries a weighted GPA of 4.58 and is looking forward to studying Elementary Education in college.
“I would love to study Elementary Education in college and pursue a teaching degree. That’s what I’ve wanted to do ever since I was little and I would love to have a positive impact and be someone kids can look up to, just as my teachers have done for me,” said Bean.
But before she leaves for college, Bean is focused on making the most of this season with her teammates she considers family.
“My teammates mean a lot to me. I love being a part of a team and being a part of something bigger than me. I know I can always rely on them to have my back and I’m thankful for how close knit we are and for all the inside jokes and fun we have together. We’re like sisters, and coming from a family with four older brothers, it’s been fun to have sisters,” said Bean.
