Southmoore’s Trent Kimmel – Character Counts Presented by Eskridge Honda
- Updated: October 23, 2018
By Kelsey Baucom
In addition to playing basketball and baseball, Southmoore senior Trent Kimmel is a dynamic receiver and strong safety for the Sabercats football team. He has always enjoyed watching the game, and has played since he was six years old, covering multiple positions in that time including quarterback, running back, defensive back, and wide receiver.
Kimmel’s character and skill have earned him a spot as an All-VYPE receiver and helped him garner the most votes in VYPE’s OKC Regional Mr. Football poll in September. He strives to be a leader and a player that his teammates can rely on. He constantly pushes himself to be a good example for the underclassmen.
“My favorite thing competing for my high school is when I’m competing with my teammates and having everybody’s back and being a leader,” he said. “I am self motivated and will always do my best for the team and set an example to the younger kids and to be a role model.”
Although this season has been a struggle for the Sabercats, Kimmel maintains a strong work ethic and aims to be coachable and give his all during practices and games in order to be successful. Even if a season doesn’t go the way he wants, Kimmel still has high hopes for the near future.
“My goal for the season is to get more wins and to get noticed so I can play the sport I love in the future,” he said.
After high school Kimmel’s plans include playing college football and keeping his education a priority while he attains his degree.
