- Updated: October 16, 2018
By Corey Heim
A junior at Norman High School, Grace Hathaway has competed for past three years on the school’s varsity Pom team.
She began competing in Pom as she has always loved dancing and cheerleading, with Pom being a perfect blend of the two.
She credits her love of dancing for her school back to not only her teammates, but also the community that she competes for.
“My teammates are very important to me as we all work hard to accomplish our goals as a team and individuals,” said Hathaway. “Norman also has a strong community spirit and cares a lot about education; with community leaders who have worked to make our schools the best they can be.”
Beyond dancing, Hathaway also excels academically as a student at Norman. She carries a 4.0 GPA and is ranked first in her class. She is also involves in teen advisors of Norman, National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Link Crew and St. Elijah Teen SOYO.
“I always want to be a good leader and a good example for my teammates,” said Hathaway. “I strive to do my part as a teammate and encourager to everyone.”
After graduating in a few years, she hopes to attend college and pursue a career in dermatology or radiology.
