Community Christian's Jackson Montgomery: Driven Athlete of the Month – Presented by Landers Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM of Norman
- Updated: September 25, 2018
By Corey Heim
For three-quarters of his high school career, Jackson Montgomery has played as a running back and safety for the Community Christian Royals football team. After not playing football for his junior year, he has returned this fall for his senior salute.
Montgomery has played football for eight years and has also played baseball since he was a small child in tee-ball. He initially wanted to begin the sport due to his father who played football in both high school and college. The sport has created a bond between the two of them and is something that they share and do together.
When asked about his favorite part about football he directed most of the answers towards his teammates.
“I enjoy the camaraderie of the team as we all have the same goal in mind,” Montgomery said. “They motivate me because we all work hard. I also play with some of my best friends, guys that I know will always be there for me and me for them.”
Beyond his teammates, he also credits his motivation and success to his baseball coach and mentor, Mike Hinkley. Hinkley is always willing to share about his relationship with God, something that is very meaningful to Montgomery, and also talk about life and give him advice.
After graduating this coming May, Montgomery is planning on majoring in Business. He wants to continue his family’s business for a third generation; helping expand and grow the company. He has already begun prepping for business school by placing an emphasis on his academics while in high school and taking advanced math courses.
This fall however, Montgomery is hoping to make the Royals football team proud by giving them the best performance he can before the end of the season. A season full of wins is the destination he and his teammates have in mind.
