Southmoore's Corbin Padgett: Academic Athlete of the Month – Presented by Republic Bank & Trust
- Updated: August 22, 2018
Southmoore High School football player Corbin Padgett is making the grade on and off the field. For Padgett, carrying the flag of academic champion is just as important as state champion in football.
“Academics are everything. If you want to play sports you have to keep your grades up, and if you want to play in college, one of the first things scouts look at is your grades, and if you don’t keep them up, you’re done. I hope to go to OU after I graduate and I’m still undecided on my major but I want to do something in the science field,” said Padgett.
Currently he carries a 4.20 GPA and his favorite subject in school is anything related to science.
On the football team, Padgett is just as focused in helping his team win.
“This year, I’m most looking forward to getting out there and showing people how much we’ve changed. Guys are really buying into it this year and I think that’s something that we lacked last year. We’ve switched a lot of things up on both sides of the ball, plus we have a lot of returning starters this year. I’m excited to show people what we’re really about,” said Padgett. “My teammates are my brothers. I know I can count on them to hold me accountable on the field and if I have any problems off the field I can count on them to help me through.”
