Noble's Chenoa Wheat: Driven Athlete of the Month – Presented by Landers Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM of Norman
- Updated: July 14, 2018
By John Tranchina
Even though she’s just a junior, Chenoa Wheat has grown into a key leader for the Noble volleyball squad and she enjoys being in a position to help her teammates perform better.
“I like being a leader and getting players to do their best during the game,” Wheat said.
Wheat, who also throws the discus and shot put in track and field, is excited about the Noble’s prospects for a strong season, after they went 13-9 and lost in the Class 5A regional tournament last year.
“We’re looking really well,” Wheat said of her team. “I think we’re going to do good this season, as long as we just work hard and don’t get aggravated with each other. All teams do it, so you just have to get over it and keep on.”
With Wheat fulfilling a major role on and off the court, the Bears look to be in good shape for 2018.
“I have coached Chenoa since seventh grade and one season of club,” said Noble coach Chrissy Marsee. “She is libero for varsity this year. Chenoa is an extremely driven and disciplined player. Not only is she driven, she has a high level of integrity that makes her a strong leader for the program as a whole.”
