Westmoore's Layne Grantham – Character Counts Presented by Eskridge Honda
- Updated: June 26, 2018
By Corey Heim
Layne Grantham is not only a member of the Westmoore High School football team, playing as an offensive lineman for the past year; he is also a top student and member of the student community. He holds a 4.0 GPA and is hoping to graduate at the top of his senior class in 2019.
Beyond balancing football and a strong academic work ethic, Grantham also makes time to be actively involved in his community. A community, he says, that everyone is involved in. No matter if they’re students, faculty or parents; almost everyone is involved in school events and participates on campus.
At Westmoore High School, Grantham is a part of Link Crew, an organization that helps incoming freshmen students get acclimated to their new high school environment. He also volunteers in his community with the football team, doing community service projects to help those around his town.
“I like to dedicate my time because I feel like it’s necessary to give back to the community that has given me so much,” said Grantham. “My favorite part of my involvement is that I can try to help one person feel better each day, which makes me feel better in return. I’m hoping to instill some things that I’ve been taught onto others as well.”
For the rest of his high school career, Grantham is hoping to graduate with a 4.0 GPA, win state in football, discus and shotput, find a college where he feels he belongs, and start a career he loves.
