During Angelica Simms’s time at Southmoore High School she competed as a member of the girls soccer team while also maintaining a 3.88 GPA. Not only did she play soccer competitively for Southmoore, a sport that requires weekly practices, games and countless hours of training; she also was actively involved in her high school community.
Simms was a member of Southmoore senior council, where she organized and decorated for school assemblies. She was actively involved in Random Acts of Kindness, an organization that focused on making a positive impact on the staff at Southmoore. Members would provide dinner for the school’s custodians, as well as putting on a trick-or-treat event for the community at Halloween.
As a National Honor Society member she helped organize and work at Oak Ridge Elementary School for their Super Kids Day event. When asked about her involvement both at her school and in the community she said she enjoyed working with her friends towards something positive and that would help people.
“I find it rewarding when people can come together and get everything done,” said Simms.
She will continue her soccer career this fall at Mid America Christian University, playing soccer for the school while also obtainig a degree. She wants to pursue a career in sonography when she graduates from college.
