Norman North's Cole Mashburn – Athlete of the Month Presented by Integris Express Care of Norman
- Updated: June 6, 2018
Football has been a part of Cole Mashburn’s life for as long as he can remember. Even before he was old enough to play organized sports, he remembers fun times of tossing the pigskin around with his family. Now, as he heads into his senior year at Norman North High School, Cole is excited about his last season of high school football with the Timberwolves.
“We have a good team with a lot of new guys playing,” he said. “But we work well together so hopefully we will put it all together and have a great season.”
There is a family tradition of playing football in the Mashburn family. Cole’s dad, Greg Mashburn, played college football at Harding University from 1991 through 1994. Chad Mashburn, Cole’s uncle, played at Harding from 1994 to through 1996. And Cole’s older brother, Cade, is currently a redshirt sophomore at the University of Memphis.
Cole knows what it is going to takes to be successful.
“It takes hard work and dedication, it’s really that simple,” he said. “You have to work hard to achieve your goals.”
Brent Barnes, Norman North head football coach, sees Cole as a great player and teammate.
“He is an exceptional player and great teammate,” he said. “He is very unselfish for being a superstar. He’s a quiet leader that always leads by example and knows how to encourage his teammates when necessary. I’m excited to see what he does his senior season and at the next level.”
Off the field, Cole is a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He also enjoys hanging out with his friends.
