Moore’s Brent Polise – Character Counts Presented by Eskridge Honda

In addition to being involved in the National Honor Society and South Lakes Soccer Club, Moore senior Brent Polise plays center back for the Lions varsity soccer team. Altogether, he has played the sport for about twelve years. He became interested in it just from watching it on TV, and once he picked it up himself he was hooked.
“I really wanted to start playing soccer because it was my favorite sport to watch on TV when I was younger,” he said. “My favorite thing about competing is the feeling I get when we win.”
Polise credits his parents with instilling in him a hard working attitude that shows itself on the field.
“My parents have both been huge influences for me,” he said. “They’re always at my games. They’ve taught me how powerful a strong work ethic can be.”
Part of his drive comes from Polise’s desire to win, and he knows the team cannot achieve that unless they are all on the same page. That’s where he steps in as a leader.
“What really motivates me to be a good teammate and leader on the field is that it’s such a big part of soccer,” he said. “Everyone has to be on the same page for us to perform well as a unit.”
As Polise’s senior year comes to a close soon, he looks forward to the last games of the season, hoping to make a few more memories before he graduates.
“This season has been challenging for me, as every season is,” he said. “I hope to win many of my last games as a senior and create some memories that I can look back on with pride.”
After high school, Polise plans to study engineering at either Clemson University or the University of Oklahoma.
