As a senior captain on the Norman North pom squad, Macy Moore really likes her role as a team leader.

“I am the captain, currently, and I really enjoy it,” she said. “I like leading my team and really just focusing on teamwork, because that’s really important with a pom squad.”

When the team isn’t cheering at football games in the fall or basketball games during the winter season, they are practicing and working on their own routines, as the team prepares for the NDA National Championships in Florida at the beginning of March.

“We’re expecting to do really good, we’re just practicing really hard,” Moore said regarding the upcoming nationals. “We practice every morning from 6-8 to work on our dances for nationals but then we also cheer games at night. It’s a lot every day, but we do both and balance both pretty good. It’s year-round, it’s a lot.”

As much as it is a major commitment of her time and energy, Moore loves being a member of the pom squad.

“I really like working with my teammates, practicing with them and getting to work with them,” said Moore, who will attend the University of Oklahoma next year and plans on trying out for the OU pom squad. “That’s probably my favorite part. All of the girls on the squad are awesome.”
