Derrick Britton is a senior on the Noble Bears soccer team. He’s their center midfield man and forward, and has been a starter for the Bears since his freshman year.
Last season he received All-District and had 14 goals under his belt all while maintaining a 3.5 GPA. Britton has also been on URSIDA since 7th grade. URSIDA is Noble’s Gifted and Talented program. In his off time he like to keep his soccer skills on point.
“I’ve always been on a club team,” said Britton. “I’ve traveled all over the southern United States. My freshman year we got 2nd place in the State Cup for Oklahoma.”
As for his upcoming season, he is optimistic and excited.
“I’m pretty confident in our ability to win,” he said. “People will look at our team as not that great but we’re pretty much made up of all seniors. We’re all skilled and we click well. My freshman and sophomore years we were 1 game away from state qualifying. We’ll get there this year.”
After high school Britton wants to continue playing soccer while pursuing his education.
“I’m waiting to see if I can get into a D2 college,” he said. “I really want to play while in college and get a degree in Biology.”
Britton’s influence in his college choice is also the person who’s had the most influence in his life, his dad.
“My Dad has been the person who’s actually put time and effort into me,” he said. “He’s helped me by supporting me and guiding me and helps me at things I want to be and that I’m good at.”
