Moore’s Lauren Hogan – Academic Athlete of the Month sponsored by Republic Bank & Trust

Moore High sophomore Lauren Hogan is driven in life, in school, and in volleyball. She has played volleyball for about eight years now. Her family introduced her to the sport when she was young, and she fell in love.
“What made me want to start playing volleyball is when I was younger, my parents and their friends would go to the volleyball courts and play all the time,” said Hogan. “I loved watching them and once I started playing, I couldn’t stop.”
In addition to playing for the Lions, Hogan also plays on Oklahoma Premier Volleyball’s 16D team. Still, she makes her academics a top priority. She is proud to report that she finished her freshman year with a 4.0 unweighted GPA and is also being eligible for NHS this year.
“What motivates me to be successful in the classroom is every time I maintain good grades, I am able to give myself an even better opportunity to play in college and for my school team,” she said.
Hogan said that what she loves most about her community and school is how supportive everyone is. She attests that Moore has some of the nicest people she’s ever met. One of those people is Hogan’s best friend Kaylie.
“Someone who has influenced me on and off the court is one of my best friends Kaylie Walker,” she said. “She is such an amazing player and person on and off the court. She has taught me so much over the past two years and I’m blessed to have played with her!”
Hogan’s plans after high school include playing volleyball for a D1 school and going into the medical field to either be a nurse or doctor.
