Westmoore’s Hannah Smoot – Academic Athlete of the Month sponsored by Republic Bank & Trust
- Updated: February 9, 2018

Hannah Smoot is a Westmoore cheerleader who is just as dedicated to her academics as she is to her school spirit. The senior has been cheering for a little over ten years, and has been in the National Honor Society since her freshman year. One thing she loves about Westmoore High is being able to share school spirit with the student body.
“I love how spirited my school is,” she said. “The assemblies are awesome and everybody gets super into it.”
Smoot knows that academics are the most important aspect of school. She is proud to report that she has received a 4.0 award every year of high school and that she scored a 30 on her ACT. Her motivation to remain a hard worker in the classroom comes from her dream to pursue the medical field.
“I am motivated to be successful in the classroom because I have always wanted to go into the medical field, and I find things related to it super interesting. Anything in the medical field requires you to be able to learn and develop lots of skills, that has always been my motivation to do well,” she said.
Smoot’s parents are also great encouragements in her life that have helped her achieve everything she has so far. She gives a shout out to one of her cheer coaches as well.
“Both of my parents motivate me in and out of cheer,” she said. “They have pushed me to be the best that I can be in everything, while also giving me the freedom to make decisions on my own. My cheer coach Jenni Hawkins has also always motivated me on and off the mat. She has taught me a lot about not only becoming a better athlete, but she has also pushed me to be a better, more successful person outside of cheer.”
After graduation Smoot plans to attend either the University of Oklahoma or Oklahoma City University and study pre-med, then hopes to continue through medical school and become an anesthesiologist.
