Teagan Reddick is just a junior, but she has already evolved into a respected leader on the Southmoore Cheer Squad, because that’s just who she is.
“Some days I kind of have to take hold of the team in leadership and lead them to what they’re supposed to be doing,” she said. “It just comes naturally, honestly.”
Southmoore head cheer coach Adrianne Harless agrees that it all stems from Reddick’s personality and is grateful to have her.
“Teagan is one of those leaders that you don’t have to ‘coach to lead,’ she just does,” Harless said. “I am learning as a coach that it is getting increasingly harder to teach work ethic. Teagan has it. She is also such a dynamic person. She thrives on challenges and is constantly looking for ways to push herself, both on the mat and in life in general. She is respected by her coaches and most importantly, her teammates and classmates.”
Reddick is also involved in Suco, a leadership group at Southmoore, and Link Crew, a group that helps freshmen get acclimated to the high school. She enjoys being involved in lots of activities and plans to go to college to study pediatric nursing.
She also hopes to cheer in college and just loves how being a cheerleader connects her to a wide variety of activities.
“Just getting involved in everything, with school,” she said of her favorite aspect of cheering. “You get to do outside activities, too. We get to do Food Banks. It’s just fun to get involved. And it builds your leadership.”
