Volleyball is what motivates Noble High School’s Hailey Masterson.
Noble volleyball coach Chrissy Marsee immediately thought of Masterson when asked about an athlete that displays great character on and off the court in her program. Masterson fit the mold as a senior with good grades and leadership quality, as well as excelling on the court.
“She is the first one to reach down and work with the younger girls,” Marsee said. “She’s also the first one to hold her upperclassmen accountable, even though she’s a senior on the varsity team. She has excellent grades, she’s always the first one to motivate all three of the teams. She’s just great.”
Marsee said something clicked for Masterson at the beginning of her senior year, and her attitude improved. Masterson battled through multiple injuries during her junior campaign, and as an athlete that wants to play at the next level, losing volleyball made Masterson realize its importance.
Masterson said her thrill from volleyball is what drives her to be better on and off the court.
“It’s pure love for the game, honestly,” she said. “Without volleyball I definitely know I wouldn’t be who I am and where I am today because volleyball has shaped me completely.”
